Hailing from Seattle, WA, Chef Brian Gist embarked on his culinary journey after graduating from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco in 1993. His career took him to esteemed locations like the Salish Lodge at Snoqualmie Falls, La Costa Resort and Spa, Arnies Restaurant, The Harbor Club, and even the decks of private yachts.

In 2000, Chef Gist, together with his wife, made their home in San Diego. His arrival marked the beginning of a new chapter in his culinary career at Flagship Cruises and Events (formerly known as San Diego Harbor Excursion). Since his arrival in October 2000, Chef Gist has been a driving force behind innovative culinary concepts.

Under his skilled leadership, the dinner cruise menu reached new levels of excellence, and the irresistible Sunday Brunch buffet became a staple for food enthusiasts. Chef Gist's culinary expertise also played a pivotal role in shaping the galley on our newest vessel, the California Spirit.

Now, Chef Brian Gist's remarkable journey has led him to the historic Butcher Shop Steakhouse in Kearny Mesa, where he continues to excel in his role as head chef, captivating diners with his culinary prowess and creativity.
